The Katrina
Tagget Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to
support mental health awareness and suicide prevention programs
among teens and young adults. The Katrina Tagget Memorial
Foundation was established by Sara, David and Blake Tagget after the
death of their daughter and sister, Katrina "Kara", a senior at
Michigan State University (MSU) majoring in Public Administration
and Public Policy, who died by suicide on September 20, 2008.
The mission of the Katrina Tagget Memorial Foundation is to keep
Katrina "Kara's" spirit alive by giving to others and to stop the
shame, stigma, and silence of suicide and mental illness.
Katrina was a loving daughter and sister, caring friend, and a
passionate and dedicated student who found time to give to others.
Katrina's memory will be rekindled through the Katrina Tagget
Fellowship at Michigan State University, a fully endowed scholarship
awarded annually to an academically successful student with learning
disabilities and community service experience. The Katrina Tagget
Memorial Foundation supports established programs that promote
awareness, advocacy, education, and support for family members and
friends of those who have mental illness and those who have suffered
loss due to suicide.
